Frequently Asked Questions

How are prayer times calculated?
Times are calculated from your GPS coordinates using standard Islamic astronomical formulas. Choose your preferred method (Karachi, Muslim World League, etc.) and madhab (Hanafi or Shafi) in the settings.
Can I get Azan notifications?
Yes. Enable browser notifications on this page and Muslim Guide will send an Azan alert at each prayer time — even when the tab is in the background.
What is the difference between Hanafi and Shafi Asr time?
Shafi Asr starts when an object's shadow equals its length. Hanafi Asr starts when the shadow equals twice its length, making Hanafi Asr about 60–90 minutes later.
